Feature and Follow #5

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

Thank you to both Parajunkee and Alison Can Read for featuring me!

Interview Questions:
1. When did you start blogging?
January 2013. I am a newbie though I have been writing reviews on goodreads for a year now.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Meeting new people. As cliche as that sounds, I love people! Unfortunately, nobody in my life is as much of a book nerd as I am. If I can't find someone to confess my book obsessions to, I'll explode. I think the whole book blog community is a great way for authors, publishers, and readers to get together and share their interest.

3.What type of books do you mainly blog about?
Mostly YA fantasy, paranormal, and dystopian fiction. I also like adult urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and New Adult romances!

4. What is your favorite book(s)?
Hard question. I really hate choosing favorites. My current favorites are Moira Young's Dustland series, Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, Susan Ee's Angelfall, and Ann Aguirre's Razorland series

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
You mean besides being featured? Everything! It's hard to say because I am still so new. This answer goes back to question two. I have met some lovely people around here that write very entertaining reviews. Everyone I have met so far is very sweet. I am very excited to make new memories with other bloggers.

Q: We always talk about books that WE want. Let's turn it on its head. What books have you given other people lately?

My close friend ,Lena, loves everything horror. She dragged me to see Mama with her a few weeks ago, let me tell you it was the worst experience ever.  So for her birthday, I gave her Stephen King's The Shining, It, and Carrie. I don't do scary (probably because I have an overactive imagination) but for some crazy reason I love Stephen King!

Leave a link to your FF, so I can check it out. Please let me know if you are a new follower, so I can follow you back. Happy Friday to all!

Top Ten Tuesday #2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday is looking at our favorite characters in whatever genre you choose.

1. Penryn from Angelfall
Raffe: “I never kid about my warrior demigod status."

Penryn:"Oh. My. God." I lower my voice, having forgotten to whisper. "You are nothing but a bird with an attitude. Okay, so you have a few muscles, I’ll grant you that. But you know, a bird is nothing but a barely evolved lizard. That’s what you are.”

2. Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy
Dimitri: "She might be wild and disrespectful, but if she has potential—"
Rose: "Wild and disrespecful? Who the hell are you anyway? Oursourced help?"
Kirova: "Guardian Belikov is the Princess Lissa's guardian now, her sanctioned guardian."

Rose: "You got cheap foreign labor to protect Lissa?”
Zoey Deutch as Rose Hathaway in the upcoming movie
3. Saba from Blood Red Road
Saba:“I never knew that missin somebody could hurt, I says. But it does. Deep inside. Like it's in my bones. We ain't never bin apart till now. Never. I dunno how to be without him. It's like... I ain't nuthin.”
Love, love, love her accent. I find that a hit or miss among most readers.
4. Eona from  Eon
Prince Kygo:“I have never heard a lady say 'arse.'"
Eona:"I haven't been a lady for long. For five years I've been saying 'arse.' It's hard to stop saying 'arse' after that many years. I suppose I should stop saying 'arse,' since ladies don't say-"
Kygo:"'Arse',"( he finished for me.)
 Eona: :)

5. Kate Daniels from Magic Bites
“Not only will you sleep with me, but you will say 'please.'"
I stared at him, shocked.
The smile widened. "You will say 'please' before and 'thank you' after."
Nervous laughter bubbled up. "You've gone insane. All that peroxide in your hair finally did your brain in, Goldilocks.”

6. Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Can I have her hair?
7. Rhiannon from Dead, Undead, and Somewhere in Between

8. Celaena from Glass of Throne

9. Scarlet from Scarlet
10. Goes to all the heroes of these corresponding books!

Review: Inescapable by Amy A. Bartrol

Blurb:
My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me--my freshman year of college. I had been hoping that once I had arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that I've been having would go away. It hasn't.

I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I'm grounded...sane. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he is near, I feel an attraction to him--a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you're thinking...that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would--if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I'm the worst thing that's ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But, get this, for some reason every time I turn around he's there, barging into my life.

What is the secret he is keeping from me? I'm hoping that it is anything but what I expect: that he is not exactly normal...and neither am I. So maybe Crestwood won't be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I have been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

Genre: YA/Paranormal Romance
Series: The Premonition #1
Rating: 3.5 (4)☆s

Feature and Follow #4

Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community. If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers. But you have to know, the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

Hello internet, welcome to my humble blog. I don't have much yet but that's because I literally made this blog less than a month ago. I love people, so it's nice to meet you. If you do choose to follow me, then I love you, and I always return the favor. Thanks for visiting and have an awesome day/night/afternoon/whatever time zone you live in! :D

ACTIVITY:  Write a letter to your favorite character. Rant, rave or gush…just pretend like they are real and you just want to let them know a "few things". - Activity courtesy of author, Kelly Walker.

My letter is to Saba from Moria Young's Dustland Series (check it out if you haven't already)

How'dy Saba,

Ah don't knaw how y'all sourthern' people talk, since Ah ain't from dere, but Ah shure do like yous accent. (I felt like I just butchered the southern accent). GIRL, we need to hang out so you could teach me all those kicka** moves. I just want to let you know I love you, even though you don't know me. Sometimes I want to strangle you, but I still love you. I swear I'm not a creeper.
Also, what is with you and animals? Do you have some kind of magical ability that lets you talk to animals? I can't even get my dog to sit, let alone trust her with my life. You're so lucky to have Nero watching your back.

Later,
Jelly

P.S. Be nice to Emmi. She's just a kid.

P.S.S. You better hold on tight to Jack or I just might come along to steal him. ;)

Waiting on Wednesdays #3

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

           This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Blurb from goodreads:
Old Gods never die…

Or so Athena thought. But then the feathers started sprouting beneath her skin, invading her lungs like a strange cancer, and Hermes showed up with a fever eating away his flesh. So much for living a quiet eternity in perpetual health.

Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra—an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god.

These days, Cassandra doesn’t involve herself in the business of gods—in fact, she doesn’t even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning.

Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with other of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these anti-gods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caricatures of their former glory. Athena will need every advantage she can get, because immortals don’t just flicker out.

Every one of them dies in their own way. Some choke on feathers. Others become monsters. All of them rage against their last breath.

The Goddess War is about to begin.

I don't know about you but this sounds so good! So excited for this to come out in September.

What are you waiting on? Leave me a link below so I can check it out.

Top Ten Tuesday #1

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Top Ten Favorite Romances: There are a few ways you could have interpreted today's topic -- romantic couples, the swooniest most romantic books, or your favorite romance novels

Yay my first Top Ten Tuesday! I'm actually pretty psyched about this week's topic.
Mine is in no particular order:

Haven and Carmine.
A love story between a  second-generation slave and the son of a mafia family. I highly recommend this book because not only is it a heartfelt romance, but it shines light on the subject of human trafficking, something more people need to be aware of.

Ron and Hermione. I love them, it's as simple as that.
(disclaimer: photo courtesy from tumblr, all photos and fan art are not mine unless stated otherwise)

JJ+Danny+Phillip . I am fully aware that this is not a couple, but this is the cutest trio ever. I can't tell you who JJ will end up with, you are gonna have to find that out yourself! (No, they did not end up in a polygamous relationship)
Small blurb:
One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy.

Jordan and Henry.
Not your typical tomboy ending up with best friend romance! This was a cute one.

Rose and Dimitri.
How can I ever forgot them? After all they've been through together!

Jacqueline and Lucas.
Lucas is one of the best book-boyfriend ever.
You can blame it on this book that got me hooked on New Adult genre.

Adult Picks:
Liv and Cam.
This is one of my favorite Rachel Vincent books. Their relationship was one of those emotional roller coasters, so many plot twists in this book. A must read!

Mac and Barrons.
They got a  love-hate relationship going on in this book. But mostly lovin' ;)

Cat and Bones.
Second favorite vampire couple next to Rose and Dimitri. Haha, how often is that you will meet your future lover because you were trying to kill him?

Last but certainly not least. Probably one of my favorite couple EVER.
Kate and Curran.
Where do I begin? These two fit each other like peas and carrots. Their constant bickering is so funny too. Most perfect dysfunctional couple.
Quotes by Ilona Andrews:
Curran: Why is it you always attract creeps?
Kate:You tell me.Ha! Walked right into that one, yes, he did.

Kate: Every time I think you’ve reached the limits of arrogance, you show me new heights. Truly, your egotism is like the Universe—ever expanding

Curran:I can't give you the white picket fence, and if I did, you'd set it on fire.

Curran: “Kate short-circuits my brain. In my head we always have these clear coherent exchanges, but once we meet, what comes out it is, “Kate, do what I say or I’ll kill you.” Her default reply is, “Fuck you!” and we go downhill from there.

Kate:...you expect me to fall on my back with my legs spread.
Curran: Not necessarily. ... You can fall on your hands and knees if you prefer. Or against the wall. Or on the kitchen counter. I suppose I might let you be on top, if you make it worth my while.

Leave me a link to your TTT! Have an awesome Tuesday ;)

Q: Happy Mardi Gras! If they were throwing the HOTTEST books off of a Mardi Gras float — what would you do to have them throw to you…?

Oh my gosh, I don't even know how to answer this question. I have never experience a big Mardi Gras celebration before. I mean there are street parades but not many people show up. I guess it's not a thing where I come from. I'm not sure if I want books thrown at me, but I'll shove people out of my way to get my way. JK! I don't know how hectic these things get. Sorry, I got nothing.

Leave a link below so I can follow you back!

Waiting on Wednesdays #2

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

                              This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead
Blurb from Goodreads:
In a futuristic world nearly destroyed by religious extremists, Justin March lives in exile after failing in his job as an investigator of religious groups and supernatural claims. But Justin is given a second chance when Mae Koskinen comes to bring him back to the Republic of United North America (RUNA). Raised in an aristocratic caste, Mae is now a member of the military’s most elite and terrifying tier, a soldier with enhanced reflexes and skills.

When Justin and Mae are assigned to work together to solve a string of ritualistic murders, they soon realize that their discoveries have exposed them to terrible danger. As their investigation races forward, unknown enemies and powers greater than they can imagine are gathering in the shadows, ready to reclaim the world in which humans are merely game pieces on their board.

Gameboard of the Gods, the first installment of Richelle Mead’s Age of X series, will have all the elements that have made her YA Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series such megasuccesses: sexy, irresistible characters; romantic and mythological intrigue; and relentless action and suspense.

Mehh, I'm not much for sci-fi but since Richelle Mead is one of my favorite authors I'm pretty excited. You guys probably already heard of this one so it might of have been a cliche answer. I loved her previous adult series both her Georgina Kincaid and her Dark Swan series. What book are you waiting on? Leave me a link down below and I'll be sure to check it out.

Teaser Tuesdays #2

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones.

When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she’s on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents.

When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living.
My Teaser:
"Four of them, each dressed in layers of black, each with a gun raised and ready. My first thought, as it almost always was when I saw anyone in a black uniform, was to run. To get the others and bolt."(233)
So, what is your Teaser Tuesday? Leave a link down below and I'll be sure to check it out!

Know Me Better #1

This is a weekly 'meme' hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer.

This Week's Questions:

Is there anything you would like to say to or ask your favorite author?
I love you.
Are you a dreamer or a realist?
Hmm, I am probably a realistic dreamer if that makes senses. I believe that however rare, true love exists, but not in the sense of "love at first sight" or "prince charming" coming to sweep you of your feet. I do believe that if you work hard your dreams can come true, but they obviously won't if you're a couch potato that sits in front of the tv all day. It's kind of hard to dream when life makes you all cynical.
Theater or Rental?
Depends on the movie. If everyone is raving about it, I'll be sure to watch it in the big screen. Other than that, I'll probably lounge in my sweats with a big ole bowl of popcorn and watch a midnight movie with my friends.
Share a family tradition.
Err...We eat a lot. Like all the time? We use food to express our feelings. It's so sad that I can' think of one.
Favorite late night snack?
Haha, I don't think I have one even though I eat all the time. I sleep like the dead from night till morn.

January Favorites

Can't believe it is the end of the month already! I want to say THANK YOU to all my new followers, it's amazing that you guys even put up with me. I just started this blog around January 20-something, so newbie here. One day I was just sitting there thinking about life when I decided I should create a blog because YOLO I need someone to confess my book obsessions to. Every month from now, I will post my top favorites ( of not only books but also music, movies, and the like).

Favorite Book of the Month
Outpost by Ann Aguirre (Razorland #2)
I am not a huge fan of sci-fi, but this series is so  addicting. My first Ann Aguirre book was unfortunately not one from her famous Sirantha Jax series, but Enclave. Outpost takes place in a post-apocalyptic world ridden with zombies. Yeah, that's right I said zombies.  Full review coming soon.
